There is no on-site parking for Cliveden. Street parking is generally available in the neighborhood.
The 6400 block of Germantown Ave. will be closed to traffic for the Battle Reenactment. The battle takes place at both Cliveden, 6401 Germantown Ave. and Upsala, 6430 Germantown Ave. as well as in the street.
From the PA Turnpike (1-276) take exit 333 (formerly Exit 25, Norristown) and follow Germantown Pike east about 7 miles to Cliveden and Upsala.
From the Schuylkill Expressway (1-76) take exit 340 (formerly Exit 32) to the Lincoln Drive. Turn right onto Johnson Street (third light) then left onto Germantown Avenue (fourth light).
Travel time from Center City locations is approximately 25 minutes; 10 minutes to the Chestnut Hill shopping district. Public transportation is available via the R8 (Chestnut Hill West) commuter rail line (Upsal Station) or the Route 23 bus.
Three of the bus tours will start at this location. Stenton is located on North 18th Street at Windrim Avenue, a short distance from Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia's Historic Northwest. It is easily accessible from Center City Philadelphia and other major routes.
From Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) or Kelly Drive and Roosevelt Boulevard: Go north on Roosevelt Boulevard (Rt. 1). Take the Wissahickon Avenue NORTH/Germantown Ave exit. Follow signs for Germantown Ave to first traffic light at Wayne Avenue. Turn right and proceed a short distance to first traffic light at Windrim Avenue. Turn left on Windrim Avenue. Go to second traffic light at N 18th Street. Turn right; the gate for Stenton is immediately on the left.
From Center City: Take the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) West or Kelly Drive to Roosevelt Boulevard (Rt. 1). Follow direction above. Alternately, travel north on Broad Street (Rt. 611). Go left on Belfield Avenue. At the third traffic light, go left on Windrim. At the first traffic light go left onto N 18th Street. The gate for Stenton is immediately on the left.
From Main Line and West: Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) to Roosevelt Boulevard (Rt. 1) then as above.
From Chestnut Hill: Take Germantown Avenue toward Philadelphia going approximately 4 miles. After passing under the railroad overpass, turn left at traffic light onto Windrim Avenue. Go to first traffic light. Turn right onto N 18th Street. The gate for Stenton is immediately on the left.
